Breeds Grouped by Genetics. Not Roles.

We’ve ditched the ‘Working,’ ‘Herding,’ and ‘Hounds’ labels for something more interesting: dwarf breeds, miniature breeds, muscle-bound powerhouses, and some of the genes that make them who they are.

Fidome is split into two standalone decks - featuring 85 unique breeds:

  • Coat Check | Gold — coat-related genetic mutations
  • Form Factor | Blue — structural and skeletal traits

The decks work independently or together, offering different ways to understand how breeds are related beneath the surface.

ANATOMY OF A FIDOME CARD

Every Fidome card represents a single breed — and every placement is grounded in published, peer-reviewed genetic research.

The science is intentionally subtle.

But it is there… if you know where to look.

Swipe to see how the science is woven into each card.

A. DECK NAME: The breeds are separated into one of two decks - COAT CHECK (gold) or FORM FACTOR (blue)

B. GENE INVOLVED: One gene that has been associated with the condition

C. CHROMOSOME: The chromosome where the gene is located (Canis Familiaris (CFA) chromosome #32 in this case)

D. TRAIT: The visible result of the genetic mutation or condition (called the phenotype) - a shorted muzzle in this case

E. BREED NAME: The name commonly associated with the dog

F. ADDITIONAL CATEGORIES: Some breeds carry multiple documented genetic mutations. When applicable, small secondary suit symbols appear here to indicate other categories the breed belongs to.

Gold symbols reference traits from the Coat Check deck.

Blue symbols reference traits from the Form Factor deck.

No Red. On Purpose.

Dogs don’t see red. We checked.

Fidome decks are rendered in blue and gold — the colors dogs actually perceive.

It’s a small design choice.

And very much the point.

Cards first. Science optional.

Fidome decks play like a regular deck of cards — because that's what they are.

Each deck is a full set of standard playing cards, sold separately or together.

The aces reveal what ties each suit together: shared genetic traits.

Geek out. Or ignore it completely and play your game.
