121 Dog Skeletons Later: The Anatomy Behind the Obsession

Over the past few years, most of what you’ve seen from Bark & Bone has either been commissioned, customized, or curated into products—stickers, prints, wallpapers and acrylics. But today, I want to show you something that’s never been for sale. Not yet, anyway.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been building something much weirder.

A collection.

Of bones.

More specifically—121 digital dog skeletons, each one created over the last three years.

No one asked for them.

No one paid for them.

They weren’t created on deadline or by request. They were built out of nothing but pure fascination.

Some of these breeds were early experiments.

Some were finished in one caffeine-fueled sitting.

Some sat on my hard drive for months, half-buried, until they were finally unearthed and finished.

A few were revised once I got the inspiration to revisit their bones.

A major catalyst?

The card decks I’ve created under Fidome. The need to represent the full scope of canine form—across coats, skulls, limbs, mutations. But long after the concept and prototype decks were printed, I kept going. Because I wasn’t done seeing them. The breeds. The bones. The subtle weirdness that sets them apart.

[Fidome’s future production is still under consideration btw]

What started as a niche experiment quickly became a bit of an obsession.

And a question.

Exactly how many breed skeletons can I fit (comfortably) on one square poster?

The answer is 121.

Truthfully, I have a few more lurking in my closet, but these are the chosen ones.

And now—after three years, one long (work-related) hiatus, dozens of breeds, and hundreds of hours—I’m in the process of finishing this one off.

I’m still formatting this monstrosity, but it'll be completed, soon.

No frills. No flower crowns. No fluff.

Just bones.

It’s essentially a monument to dog nerds like me (and maybe you).

I’ll be sharing more soon. More close-ups. The full poster when it’s ready to drop.

Until then:

Stay weird.
Stay tuned.

P.S.

If you'd rather see your dog's bones on a poster, not just the 121 I've already drawn, I’m still taking commissions.

Fully custom. Mildly unsettling. Entirely yours.
